Please see “additional info” at the end for a very important note\, and be sure to RSVP.\nTime: 10:00-12:00. Please note that this outing will be earlier than usual because of Adventure Rock availability\, but you are welcome to stay longer than 12:00. Please arrive at least ten minutes before 10:00 so that we can check in as a group.\nLocation: Adventure Rock (2220 N Commerce St\, Milwaukee\, WI 53212). The entire hike is around 4.2 miles.\nStart location: The Urban Ecology Center at Riverside Park (1500 E Park Pl\, Milwaukee\, WI 53211). We will meet outside of the Urban Ecology Center main building. Caleb will arrive 15 mins early to meet with anyone who gets there early\, and we will wait 15 mins for the whole group to arrive before leaving. If you arrive and have difficulty finding the meeting location\, please text or call Caleb at 414-249-6746.\nTransportation: If you are driving to the Urban Ecology Center\, there is a free parking lot located across from the UEC main building on E. Park Pl. If you are traveling by bus\, the green line stops on the corner of Oakland & Park\, which is the closest stop to the Urban Ecology Center. If you have additional transportation questions/needs\, please contact Caleb ahead of time at caleb@forge-forward.org.\nEnd location: After stopping at Culver’s halfway through our hike for ice cream\, we will return to the Urban Ecology Center at the end of our hike. (Note: there are no gender inclusive restrooms at Culver’s or at the Urban Ecology Center.) If you are being picked up\, please tell your ride that we will return to the UEC. We hope that you will join us for the entire hike\, but if you prefer to leave earlier\, feel free to leave from Culver’s (the halfway point).\nWhen we stop for ice cream\, we will talk as a group about options for our hike back to the UEC. We can either hike back on West side of the river (a more adventurous hike)\, or on the same trail we took to Culver’s on the East side for a shorter hike.\nWhat to bring: Yourself\, a water bottle\, comfortable and weather-appropriate clothes\, shoes with traction that you are okay with getting muddy\, sunscreen\, snacks (optional)\, and some pocket money for ice cream at Culver’s! It’s very important to stay hydrated and comfortable\, so make sure that you can move freely in your clothing. If you are binding\, please be especially careful not to overheat\, and drink plenty of water! We will hike at a pace that is comfortable for everyone and take as many breaks as needed.\nWeather: 57° and partly cloudy. If it rains\, we can hang out in the Urban Ecology Center building (they have couches\, musical instruments\, and games). People may not feel the need to stay for three hours\, so feel free to come and go at your convenience.\nAdditional info: We love having youth attend our events! Please be aware that we ask everyone to sign a waiver before participating\, and youth under 18 will need a parent’s signature on their waiver to participate.\nWhat’s next?: Next Sunday\, June 9th\, we will NOT be meeting for a FORGE Outdoors outing! Next week is PrideFest weekend\, and FORGE staff will be working the FORGE booth at Pride. The next outdoors event will take place on Sunday\, June 16th! The activities are geared towards people interested in being active outside! This summer we will be hiking\, biking\, rock climbing\, and more! This program is open to a wide range of ages\, experience levels\, and abilities.\nFORGE Outdoor leadership:  Caleb (he/him/his) will be leading FORGE Outdoors outings during the summer. He looks forward to meeting all of you for our first outing: a bike ride along the Oak Leaf bike trail. \nOuting details:\nActivity: This Sunday\, we will gather for a leisurely bike ride along the Oak Leaf bike trail from Estabrook Park to Lakefront Colectivo and back (7.4 miles round trip). If you are binding\, please be especially careful not to overheat\, and drink plenty of water! We will take as many breaks as needed. It should not be too sunny\, but bring sunscreen just in case!\nWeather: Mostly cloudy\, 59°: bring a jacket/windbreaker and warm layers if you get cold easily!\nAdditional info: If you need to rent a bike\, the nearest Bublr bike stations are located at 1200 E. SUMMARY:Poetry and Performance Slam - #TDOV
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate #TDOV (Transgender Day of Visibility) with FORGE\, Bricks\, and Zao MKE Church.\nDo you write poetry? Create visual art? Play music? Are you looking for a space to share your work? Maybe you’ve never shared your art before. . . We welcome trans-specific content\, as well as any other topics that move you\, issues you are passionate about\, and expressions that share more about who you are.\nJoin FORGE for a Poetry and Performance Slam at our monthly meeting on March 30\, 2019. Come share your story\, your words\, your music\, and your art!\nWe will hold a welcoming space for all of us to mingle with kindred spirits and build community by sharing pieces of ourselves through whatever art form we choose. No need to read or perform – there is ample room for attentive listeners to cheer on those who wish to share.\nWe’ll provide the space and hot food – you bring yourself and your amazing artwork!\nIf you know in advance that you would like to share your work\, please consider RSVP’ing in advance by emailing shelley@forge-forward.org or calling 414-559-2123 x4. Please tell us what kind of art you plan to share and if you anticipate any special setup.\nEveryone is welcome to attend even if you aren’t able to RSVP!\n———————————\nOur new location is one result of an emerging partnership with IndependenceFirst.\nPlenty of free parking is available\, and the new site is on the Green and 15 bus lines.\nFor the safety and comfort of those with chemical and environmental sensitivities\, IndependenceFirst requests that people refrain from using any perfumed grooming products such as scented soaps\, deodorants\, perfumes\, and heavily scented fabric softeners. It is also important that the space remain a smoke-free environment; therefore in addition to not smoking in the building\, we ask that you refrain from smoking in paths of travel and doorways.

SUMMARY:Karaoke For the Cause - BOUNCE!
DESCRIPTION:The first Friday of every month\, Bounce Milwaukee\, Milwaukee’s premiere place for bounce castles\, laser tag\, indoor rock climbing\, and arcade fun\, hosts karaoke to benefit a different local\, progressive charity. For December they’ve chosen FORGE!\nThere’s no cover to enter\, and kids (and those under 21) are welcome from 8-9. After 9pm\, things switch into 21+ mode. At least $1 from every drink (including mocktails!) sold at the bar from 8pm until the music stops will benefit the FORGE! FORGE staff will be on hand to let you know how you can assist or volunteer to support their work.\nFORGE is a national transgender anti-violence organization\, founded in 1994. Since 2009\, we have been federally funded to provide direct services to transgender\, gender non-conforming and gender non-binary survivors of sexual assault. Since 2011\, FORGE has served as the only transgender-focused organization federally funded to provide training and technical assistance to providers around the country who work with transgender survivors of sexual assault\, domestic and dating violence\, and stalking. Our role as a technical assistance provider has allowed us to directly see key continued and emerging challenges many agencies are experiencing in serving sexual assault survivors of all genders.\nPlease\, no Hotel California. We know it seems like a good idea\, but it’s really long.
