Crime victim support
All too many trans and non-binary people are victims of a crime in their lifetime – sometimes targeted because of our gender identity or expression, sometimes not. The time directly after a crime occurs can be scary, disorienting, and filled with questions of what to do or where to access help. Many trans people will not contact law enforcement – and that’s OK! The information on the back will help guide you to some resources you may want to pursue.
- Your identity is valid
- You have a right to express your gender and be yourself
- It’s OK to ask for help
- Know your rights
- You do not have to report to the police
- You deserve healing/medical and legal services (if you want them)
