Barriers to LGBTQ Empowerment: Dialogue to Action (Alverno)

February 16, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm CST

Wisconsin Workshop

It takes brave people and open hearts to uncover and challenge the social systems prohibiting full inclusion. LGBTQ people (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) and allies face discriminatory obstacles every day, in
terms of healthcare, legal services, family and adoption advocacy, housing and employment, and more. They face threats of violence where they live, work, play, and pray. Many are courageously leading a civil rights movement to empower sexual and gender minorities in the U.S.
Join us to explore the issues that currently challenge the LGBTQ community. Hear from area citizens with lived experiences. Hear social justice advocates address the legal and institutional obstacles to full inclusion. Meet
representatives from local agencies and gather resources about how you can get involved in creating solutions.
