Milwaukee’s Black and Pink Organization Drops in on FORGE

October 9, 2017

Abolition Now Black&Pink

At our monthly meeting on July 15th 2017 members from the Milwaukee chapter of Black and Pink (www.blackandpink.org) joined us for our screening of the award-winning documentary film “Major!” (http://www.missmajorfilm.com/).  Black and Pink describe themselves, “an open family of LGBTQ prisoners and ‘free world’ allies who support each other,” and, “work toward the abolition of the prison industrial complex […] through advocacy, education, direct service, and organizing.” Trans and LGBQ folks are frequently at an increased risk for sexual assault and abuse while incarcerated, and the members added a lot to our discussion following the film. Black and Pink offers a host of resources including a pen pal program, a newsletter, support, workshops and trainings.
