Parents of trans kids support group

MKE Parents of Trans Kids is a group of parents and caregivers supporting each other on our individual journeys of love, acceptance, and advocacy for our school-aged gender non-binary, transgender and non-conforming children. We meet monthly on the 3rd Sunday from 2:00pm to 3:30pm.   Supportive, gently facilitated meetings offer parents and adult family members the opportunity to share their successes, concerns, and stories of challenges and resilience.   This space also provides a forum to learn from others, ask questions, seek feedback, or just listen. Childcare can be provided upon request. Please contact us 10 days prior to the meeting so we can arrange for a sitter. For additional information, email us at  parents@forge-forward.org.

Monthly Meeting: Self defense and confidence (with Joey Clark)

Many of us don't always feel safe on the street. Long-time FORGE member 2015 Fellow, Joey Clark, will teach moves and tactics that can help people get out of holds if they are grabbed, use their own body as a defensive weapon, and learn where an attacker is most vulnerable. Go home feeling stronger and more prepared!   https://twitter.com/FORGEforward/status/602177145033650176

Monthly Milwaukee Meeting: Addiction and coping strategies

Many people in the trans community are in recovery -- from alcohol, drugs, food, sex, cutting, or other forms of addiction or repetitive behaviors. Oftentimes, we use chemicals or specific adaptive strategies to cope with life's challenges, past trauma, or the micro- or macro-aggressions in day to day life. July's meeting will include a panel of individuals who will discuss addiction, coping strategies, and recovery. Topics will include what has been helpful in dealing with stressful situations, negative emotions, and cravings. Different approaches to recovery and healing will also be discussed, in addition to a 12-step model.
