January [Monthly Community Meeting] – Tooling Up for 2019: Mindfulness, Meditation, Music, and More!

IndependenceFirst 540 S 1st Street, Milwaukee

2018 was a rocky road, and at least politically, and many of us are concerned about what might happen as we move into 2019.  So let’s tool up! FORGE is devoting its first meeting of 2019 to sharing practical skills for getting through the day – even the hard days. We’ll help participants experience and learn to repeat calming coping skills using music, art, meditation, movement, and other modalities.  All of us can use more ways to restore a sense of calmness amidst the chaos and challenges of our lives. Come join us for a participatory and revelatory experience!   New Meeting Location! The January 2019 FORGE meeting will not be held in our usual place. Instead, we will be meeting at: Independence First 540 S 1st Street Milwaukee, WI Our new location is one result of an emerging partnership with IndependenceFirst. Plenty of free parking is available, and we hope the new site […]

Parents of trans kids support group

MKE Parents of Trans Kids is a group of parents and caregivers supporting each other on our individual journeys of love, acceptance, and advocacy for our school-aged gender non-binary, transgender and non-conforming children. We meet monthly on the 3rd Sunday from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. Supportive, gently facilitated meetings offer parents and adult family members the opportunity to share their successes, concerns, and stories of challenges and resilience. This space also provides a forum to learn from others, ask questions, seek feedback, or just listen. Childcare can be provided upon request. Please contact us 10 days prior to the meeting so we can arrange for a sitter. For additional information, email us at parents@forge-forward.org.

December [Monthly Community Meeting] – Happy/Helpful/Healing Party

FORGE / MKE LGBT CC 1110 N Market Street, 2nd Floor, Milwaukee

You’re invited! Please join FORGE at our last meeting of the year for a community gathering to connect, network, socialize, and just be you. Transgender and non-binary individuals, friends and family, and supportive community members are welcome to join in creating a reflective and restorative space for our community to close out 2018 – a year of notable challenges and remarkable highs (like recent court decisions in Wisconsin making trans-specific healthcare accessible to state employees and BadgerCare enrollees!). We’ll also reserve time to hear from you. What would you like to see from FORGE in 2019 for support, connection, community events, or in response to social/political developments? What ideas do you have to help FORGE reach more people to strengthen our rich and diverse communities? We’ll bring games and music – you bring yourself, your family, your friends, and, if you’re able, a treat to share!
