MKE Parents of Trans Kids is a group of parents and caregivers supporting each other on our individual journeys of love, acceptance, and advocacy for our school-aged gender non-binary, transgender and non-conforming children. We meet monthly on the 3rd Sunday from 2:00pm to 3:30pm.   Supportive, gently facilitated meetings offer parents and adult family members the opportunity to share their successes, concerns, and stories of challenges and resilience.   This space also provides a forum to learn from others, ask questions, seek feedback, or just listen. Monthly meeting: Soothing the Soul

... through words, images, and action. April 25, 2015's meeting will be a dynamic, interactive, experiential, and reflective space that encourages and allows participants to transform feelings about personal or global loss, trauma, or life-hardships into empowered hope.  Attendees – in a structured, safe, creative setting – will use writing, art, and movement exercises to address topics that impact us all. Participants will leave with a renewed sense of hope, community, and connection with themselves and with others. All materials provided, but feel free to bring your favorite healing journals and tools. No experience necessary. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Supporting Trans Survivors in Accessing Culturally Responsive SA Services – Madison, WI

Description:   This interactive and fast-paced training will encourage participants to expand their transgender vocabulary and conceptual framework(s), specifically in how they apply to trans* and gender non-conforming sexual assault survivors. Attendees will increase their ability to fluidly and respectfully interact with and serve trans* survivors and loved ones. Topics will include prevalence rates, barriers to accessing services, and unique issues facing trans* survivors and service providers. Participants will leave with practical steps that will assist them in modifying existing policies and procedures, identifying and lowering barriers to service, and improving effective services to trans* survivors and loved ones. Bending Toward Justice: Continuing the March Toward LGBT Equality

The U.S. Department of Justice, United States Attorney's Office in partnership with the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center and FORGE are proud to announce "Bending Toward Justice: Continuing the March Toward LGBT Equality" on June 23, 2015. The event will include speakers James L. Santelle (US Attorney), Loree Cook-Daniels (FORGE), and a panel of trans community members. Prior to the formal event will be an exhibit of photographs of trans, gender non-binary and loved ones, highlighting their resilience and healing.
