The Supreme Court: What Every Trans & Non-Binary Employee Should Know

Join us for our first meeting of the fall season! We’re hanging up our hiking shoes and surfboards for now and returning to regular meetings during these chilly months. Please join FORGE staff for our meeting on Sunday, November 3, 2019, from 1:00 – 3:00pm at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center, 1110 North Market St., Milwaukee, WI 53202. FORGE staff member, Shelley Gregory, will discuss recent news about the workplace rights of trans & non-binary employees. Shelley, a former employment discrimination attorney, will break down the three Supreme Court cases in easily understandable terms and will explain how laws currently protect trans and non-binary workers. Shelley will also talk about how the Supreme Court cases may (or may not) affect trans & non-binary workers, as well as the implications of the Equality Act (a landmark non-discrimination law pending in Congress) on trans people’s lives. Transgender Day of Remembrance – MKE 2019

Join FORGE and community partners in marking the Transgender Day of Remembrance. The greater Milwaukee community will be honoring those who have lost their lives due to anti-transgender bias or violence on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. This is a COMMUNITY event — for the community, of the community, by the community. Part of joining together as a community this year and every year, is to hear multiple voices and diverse views. Health, Trauma, and Resilience in Trans/Non-binary Communities (CCF)

Workshop at the Cream City Foundation's LGBTQ+ Health Families, Healthy Communities Conference Trans/non-binary individuals may experience higher rates of health disparities and victimization than their non-trans peers.  AND, trans/non-binary individuals may also demonstrate high rates of thriving and resilience!   Join FORGE staff for a fast-paced exploration of trans health and wellness, with a positive spin.  Participants will leave with a handful of resources, as well as a list of free and easy things any provider or agency can do to improve their service to trans/non-binary clients.

FORGE and ZAO MKE Church know you care about the trans community and would like to do something to support community members who might be in need.
